  Holder Type - 3x5 by Hitachi Medical Corporation

Figure 1 on the left shows specification for optodes (probes) and channels for a 3x5 holder distributed by Hitachi Medical Corporation. The channel and optode numbers are different from those assigned by the company, so you have to adjust a bit when you use. Gray and white circles correspond to optodes. The channels are defined as the mid-points between a pair of optodes, and indicated as X. Red numbers correspond to channels. Again, they are different from those assigned by the company. (We may fix this discrepancy later).

1. Registration results: Placing the center of a 3x5 probe holder on the coronal reference curve of the international 10/05 system

- The center of the middle probe row of a 3x5 probe holder is placed on a specific target point on the coronal reference curve (T9---Cz---T10) of the 10/05 system (see Jurcak V et al., 2007, Neuroimage), and the middle probe column (the third column from the front) is placed along the coronal reference curve. The center of the holder is moved along the coronal reference curve step by step, and the target 10/05 point is indicated at the beginning of the file name. Please refer to the Excel sheet for estimation of MNI coordinates and anatomical labels.

2. Registration results: Placing the center of a 3x5 probe holder on the sagittal reference curve of the international 10/05 system

- The center of the middle probe row of a 3x5 probe holder is placed on a specific target point on the sagittal reference curve (Nz---Cz---Iz) of the 10/05 system (see Jurcak V et al., 2007, Neuroimage), and the middle probe column (the third column from the left) is placed along the sagittal reference curve. The center of the holder is moved along the sagittal reference curve step by step, and the target 10/05 point is indicated at the beginning of the file name. Please refer to the Excel sheet for estimation of MNI coordinates and anatomical labels.

- The second optode of the lowest probe row of a 3x5 holder is placed on F7, and the lowest probe row is aligned along with the horizontal reference curve in a balanced manner. Note that alignment cannot be perfect due to the slightly curved holder shape.
