Patient Rights

All JMUH staff members are confident that all patients should be considered as center of medical activities and medical activities are performed on the reliance between all patients and them. All patients have the following rights. We respect these rights.

  • To be respected as each personnel and to receive appropriate medical care
  • To receive high quality medical care equally considering safe of patients
  • To be informed clearly about disease conditions and therapy
  • After clear understanding of the information, to choose and decide the therapeutic methods etc.
  • To seek opinions about therapeutic methods etc.(second opinion)from other hospitals (doctors).
  • To review records of medical treatment if necessary
  • To be protected and respected privacy and personnel information about medical care

Rights of paediatric patients

  • To be recognized as one of social people, to be taken care, and to receive the most appropriate medical care
  • To receive safe and the most appropriate medical care equally as well as other people in any diseases.
  • To be informed clearly about disease conditions and therapy considering age and understanding level
  • To express thoughts and wills to JMUH staff and to family after clear explanation about disease conditions and therapy,
  • To seek opinions about therapeutic methods etc. (second opinion) from other hospitals (doctors).
  • To review records of medical treatment if necessary
  • To be protected and respected privacy and personnel information about medical treatment
  • To be educated with games considering age and disease level

Request for your cooperation

This Hospital is an advanced treatment hospital that provides advanced medical care and conducts clinical research, education, training, etc. In order to achieve appropriate medical care, we ask for your understanding and cooperation regarding the following points.

  • Please provide detailed and accurate information about your mental and physical condition and other necessary matters.
  • In some cases, a trainee may provide medical care under the supervision of a medical professional. Please let us know if you do not wish to be seen by a trainee. You will not be disadvantaged in receiving medical care because of this.
  • You may be asked to cooperate in clinical research. Even if you do not participate in a clinical study, you will not be disadvantaged. In addition, we may use patients’ medical information, such as medical records and test results, for research or medical education. Please let us know if you do not wish to have your personal information used for research or education. You will not be disadvantaged in receiving medical care because of this.
  • Please comply with laws and regulations and the rules of the Hospital, and follow the instructions of the Hospital staff. In the event of verbal abuse, violence, or harassment, we may refrain from providing medical care or report it to the police.
  • This Hospital is making efforts to improve the working environment of staff to ensure proper and sustainable provision of medical care, so we ask for your cooperation.
    (1) Explanations of disease conditions, etc. are given to patients and their families, in principle, during the daytime on weekdays.
    (2) Medical care on Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, and weekday nights is provided by duty or on-call doctors.
    (3) For emergency medical care, priority is given to patients with serious and urgent conditions.
    (4) After the condition has stabilized, the patient is referred to a cooperative medical institution in the community.

Database business linked to the specialist system

JMUH has registered with National Clinical Database(NCD) which creates a database for the purpose of grasping all surgical cases in surgical facilities all over Japan. Along with this, since January, 2011, JMUH has started to enter surgical cases in NCD.
